My week, or rather day on Twitter, was fun. I began social media by showing off some excerpts from the problems and solutions of my AP. Then I focused on what I learned while taking this course. One thing that I tweeted about was that warming waters are causing lobster shells to rot. If you are interested to learn about what this looks like, you can navigate to my Presentations and Social Media Page to learn more. Being able to retweet many different colleagues this week was also very insightful for learning about the research and APs that they were doing. I also ended up following random organizations and people related to my major and history-related meme pages. Using Social Media this quarter essentially did the work of writing my research for me. I found great organizations dedicated to the cause of helping and conserving lobster populations. I also was connected with my peers by interacting with the research that they would post or comment on and like some cute pictures of their pets. Before taking this class, I did not think that a platform like Twitter was as useful for an academic setting as I know it today. It garners many different perspectives, raises awareness about many issues, and builds community. I'm not a big social media person, so it's hard to say if I will continue to use Twitter to the extent that I did for this class, but I will use it more than I did before taking this class - which was virtually never. With peace and love }
