This week on Twitter I have followed more people from the class and have been using some key words in my searches to help me narrow down my topic. This week on Twitter, I have have followed more marine conservation such as @thesierraclub and @oceanea, which I hope will help me to find more research on my topic. An interesting thing that I read and tweeted about was about the fishing industry of lobsters in Maine. I found this post interesting because it informed me of the habitats that are most at risk for lobsters because of climate change. Some cool posts that I saw from our #30canimals twitter was an article about how noise pollution is changing animal behavior. This tweet only enforces the fact that we need to do better in the way that we live because we are affecting the species around us. One interesting picture that I came across on my Instagram was a picture of what looked like thousands bass getting netted up. I tweeted this to show how our animal agriculture in the United States is actually animal cruelty.
I responded to Ariel M, Janelle T, and Samuel K. I felt that my responses to Sam and Ariel were especially thoughtful. I really enjoyed how Sam's response illustrated his research and interests in elephants. He mentioned how he went into a rabbit hole with information about elephants being used for tourism. He wrote about the circuses and elephant treatment there, but it also made me think about the elephants in asian countries where elephants are used as a tourist attraction. I think it would be interesting to know more about the conditions that these animals are in and if they are being treated with respect. I also liked how Ariel was able to connect the Ideas from Safina's chapter, " Wolves and Pet Peeves" to further her own research interests of dogs or chimps. Knowing that I had just watched the TEDtalk with Jane Goodall, I offered her to use this source as a way to find out more information about Jane's personal accounts with chimps.

Hi jerrod! I never thought of the fact that we use elephants as mainly a form of entertainment in too many places. I can agree that it probably happens elsewhere. One thing I was not fully understanding was, is the way the elephants you mentioned treated considered cruel and unethical everywhere by the majority of people. Thanks!
